In the framework of the implementation of the PoWER Project, the Durrës Municipality represented by its vice mayor Zhuljen Varfaj in cooperation with the Cooperation and Development Institute / CDI represented by Krisela Hackaj, participated in the Signing Ceremony of the Local Memorandum of Understanding and Local Protocol, developed at the premises of the Durrës Port Authority.
The Protocol and the Agreement clearly define the commitments of the parties on promotion of renewable energy sources in order to increase energy efficiency in the institution of Durrës Port. In his speech, the vice mayor of Durrës, Zhuljen Varfaj stated that the cooperation between the municipality and the port has been continuous: “The cooperation between the municipality and the port has been continuous as Durrës cannot be understood without its port. Thanks to this project, the Municipality of Durrës promotes the use of renewable energy sources to increase energy efficiency in the Port of Durrës, as a model to be followed even from other institutions or other public and private buildings”. The signatory parties of the Local Memorandum of Understanding and Protocol, in addition to the Municipality of Durrës, are the Durrës Port Authority, represented by its director Pirro Vengu, Albanian Railways, represented by the director Ani Dyrmishi, the Cooperation and Development Institute, represented by Krisela Hackaj and the University “Aleksandër Moisiu “ Durrës, represented by the Dean of Professional Studies Faculty Osman Metalla.
All the signatories commit to jointly explore innovative energy efficiency approaches, build concrete initiatives and invest in HR to boost maritime connectivity.
